The No. 9 Columbia College volleyball team lost to defending NAIA national champion Nashville American 30-27, 30-26, 17-30, 31-29 in the first of two matches Saturday in Rapid City, S.D. The Cougars rebounded by beating No. 5 Dickinson State 28-30, 32-29, 30-24, 30-23. The Cougars move to 14-6 after Saturday’s action.

ROCK BRIDGE GIRLS TENNIS: The Bruins won the district tournament for the ninth year in a row Saturday in Camdenton. The team will play Waynesville at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Park in the team regional.

In doubles at the district, Elizabeth Worsowicz and Whitley Zitsch placed first, and Allison Wulff and Lauren Kane placed second, which qualifies them to play in the individual state tennis tournament in Springfield on Oct. 18-20.

MU SOCCER: The No. 6-ranked Tigers shut out Texas Tech 2-0 on Friday night 2-0 in Lubbock, Texas.

Tigers sophomore forward Michelle Collins scored the first goal, her eighth of the season, and freshman forward Alysha Bonnick scored the second in the 70th minute.

The win improves the Tigers to 9-2, and 3-0 in Big 12 Conference play.
