The Olde Wheels Collector Car Club of Columbia hosted its 33rd annual car show around the Flatbranch area Sunday. Car owners showed off vintage automobiles spanning years from the teens to the ’70s, while Mid-Missouri Car Club members Wes Scott and Dan East displayed their “Diamonds in the Rough” automobiles. Scott, from Eugene, owns a rusted 1937 Cord that he bought from Corbett Fasching of St. Joseph. Before Scott bought the car, it was parked in a bar for 50 years. Since buying it, he has put 5,000 miles on the Cord. The other diamond in the rough is East’s Model A Ford. He bought the car in Lawrence, Kan., in May. Within four hours, Scott and East got the rusty, grimy Ford up and running Sunday. East, from St. Anthony, put his Ford into third gear for the first time. “I had it going at 30 mph. I even thought about passing Wes,” East said.
