Bruins soccer team nets key win

COLUMBIA — Junior midfielder Adam Ross scored 25 minutes into the game and senior goalkeeper Matt Albrecht stopped every shot in Rock Bridge’s 1-0 victory against Waynesville on Thursday night at Rock Bridge Field.

“This was an important game for us to win,” Bruins coach Kirby Keth said. “We needed to (get) a win after the Rockhurst game (a 4-1 loss). This was key.”

Because of the importance of the game, not many Bruins seniors got much playing time.

“We have seven games left before districts,” Keth said. “We had to play strictly to win.”

The win put Rock Bridge at 7-11 for the season and 1-2 in district play going into the final third of the season. Waynesville dropped to 8-9-1.
