COLUMBIA — At least three people were injured early Saturday morning in a two-car crash in northeastern Columbia after a driver failed to yield on a left turn, Columbia police said.
Megan Stegner, 22, of Columbia, was driving eastbound on Clark Lane and attempting to turn left onto southbound Highway PP when she failed to yield to a northbound vehicle being driven by Lance Cowans, 25, of Fayette, causing the collision, according to a police news release.
Stegner and a passenger Kim Kroha, 21, of Columbia, were transported to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Cowans was not injured, but one passenger, Chad Crump, 24, of Fayette, was transported to the hospital with a head injury. It is unknown whether the other passenger in Cowan’s vehicle, Josh Eubanks, 26, of Columbia, sustained injuries, according to the release.
It is also unknown whether the drivers or passengers were wearing seat belt, except for Crump, who was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident, according to the release.
Police said alcohol was a contributing factor in the cause of the accident, but no charges have been filed.
