MU tennis players net doubles title

COLUMBIA — Missouri tennis players senior Chrissy Svetlic and freshman Mallory Weber won the doubles title at the Mizzou Invitational by defeating Illinois State’s Veronique Parke-Bedard and Katri Miller 8-4 Sunday at the Green Tennis Center. Freshman Kaitlyn Ritchie and sophomore Kaitlin Dunham won the B doubles draw by defeating Drake’s Kari Sloboth and Sarah Plowman 8-6.

Svetlic also won the B singles draw by defeating freshman teammate Maureen Modesto 2-6, 6-3, 10-6. Junior Sofia Ayala won the C singles draw by defeating Illinois State’s Tanja Hrovatic 6-2, 6-3.

Iowa State, Murray State and Saint Louis also competed at the three-day invitational. The Tigers will play in the ITA Central Regional from Wednesday to Sunday in Tulsa, Okla.
