COLUMBIA — A Jefferson City man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of robbing a 41-year-old woman inside University Hospital on Monday.

Michael S. Weider, 25, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery at 2:19 p.m. Tuesday, according to an MU police department release.

MU Police Department Capt. Brian Weimer said he was unable to comment on how Weider was caught because the case is under investigation.

At about 2:45 a.m. Monday, a 41-year-old St. Louis woman was robbed while resting in a hospital waiting room after visiting a patient in the intensive care unit. The woman told police a man attacked her and stole an unspecified amount of money, MU police said.

Hospital security responded immediately to the incident, and an image of the suspect was captured on the hospital’s surveillance system.
