Nebraska continues dominance<br>of Missouri volleyball team

COLUMBIA — The score went back and forth, Missouri matching No. 1 Nebraska point for point and playing its best. Then the second game started.

Things quickly went downhill for the Tigers (12-7, 5-5 Big 12) after dropping the first game, and MU’s five-game win streak was snapped against the Huskers, 31-29, 30-18, 30-14. The win was Nebraska’s (17-0, 10-0 Big 12) 27th straight overall and 23rd straight in Columbia.

“As I said in a timeout, if we’re playing well and they’re playing well, they’re still going to beat us,” MU coach Wayne Kreklow said. “But we’re better than 30-18, 30-14.” He added that he saw no bright spots in the final two games.

After losing the first game, the Tigers appeared to deflate. Nebraska took full advantage, posting 42 kills against five errors and effectively ending any chance of MU gaining an upset.

“I take it to heart when they start putting subs in,” senior Tatum Ailes said. “You’ve got to take it as fuel for the next team (Texas) and make sure that doesn’t happen again. Losing 30-14, that shouldn’t ever happen. It doesn’t matter who you’re playing.”
