COLUMBIA — The Rock Bridge volleyball team beat Hickman 25-22, 8-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-11 on Thursday night at the Hearnes Center. The Bruins led 7-6 in the first game, but committed three errors, allowing Hickman to take an 11-6 lead. Rock Bridge coach Beth Newton took a timeout, and her team came back refocused, and during one volley it made three straight blocks.

The Kewpies dominated the second game with Hannah Babcock’s sharp ace winning it. Rock Bridge struggled early in the third game, falling behind 11-2 before fighting back to within 23-19 but still losing.

The momentum switched sides during the last two games, and Rock Bridge was ahead 7-3 in the final game before Hickman came back to make with in 10-9. The Kewpies managed just two more points, however.

As soon as the Bruins won, Rock Bridge students stormed the floor, ending an emotional match.
