Two men sought in robbery of sandwich delivery driver

COLUMBIA — Two men robbed a Jimmy John’s delivery driver early Friday morning, Columbia police said.

The driver was making a delivery at 12:11 a.m. in the 300 block of Maplewood Drive when two men assaulted him and stole the food he was carrying, Nelson said.

“It appears the driver was set up for this robbery — it was not a crime of opportunity,” said Columbia police Captain Brad Nelson.

The driver suffered several lacerations above his right eye and was kept in a hospital for observation, Nelson said.

One suspect was described as a white man in his 20s, between 5 feet 8 inches and 9 inches tall, 140 pounds and wearing dark jogging clothes. The second suspect was described as a white man in his 20s, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, 160 to 170 pounds and wearing dark jogging clothes.
