Police looking for suspect in central Columbia robbery

Columbia police are looking for the person who robbed a man by gunpoint in central Columbia on Friday night.

According to a Columbia Police Department release, at about 10:51 p.m. police received a call that a 30-year-old man had been walking near First and Ash streets when a man grabbed him by the arm, pointed a gun at him and demanded money. The victim told police the suspect took the money he gave him and then ran northbound.

The suspect is described as a black man, of medium build, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, with dark complexion and no facial hair. He was last seen wearing a blue-hooded sweatshirt with white writing on it and blue jeans. He displayed a dark-colored large caliber semi-automatic handgun.
