COLUMBIA — MU volleyball coach Wayne Kreklow was a little more pleased about his team’s fight in the third game of Saturday night’s match against No. 6 Texas. The result was the same as Wednesday’s match against No. 1 Nebraska, the Longhorns (14-3, 10-1 Big 12) beat the Tigers 30-32, 17-30, 22-30, but Kreklow said he saw good things.
“That (the third game) says a lot about the players,” he said. “It would have been very easy to come out and just roll over and take a beating like we did in Game 2. I think that speaks volumes about the maturity of some of them to keep battling.”
After Missouri (12-8, 5-6 Big 12) opened with a close loss in the first game for the second straight match, the Tigers again collapsed in the next game. Freshman Caitlyn Vann said that is MU’s biggest weakness.
“We’re really good after we win, we’re coming out strong and getting ready for the next (game),” she said. “But it’s after losses that we really struggle regrouping and playing with as much energy as we had in the first (game).”
