PrintCOLUMBIA — Columbia police were looking Sunday for two suspects in a central Columbia robbery in which a man was threatened with a rifle.
According to Sgt. Lloyd Simons, at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, a man driving a green 1998 Ford Windstar minivan picked up a woman he did not know in the 1500 block of West Ash Street. The woman made a call on the man’s cell phone and asked him to drop her off in the 500 block of West Ash Street. When the driver arrived there, a man with a rifle demanded the contents of the driver’s wallet and his minivan, Simons said.
The female passenger, who police have identified as a suspect because she directed the driver to the location, is described as a 20- to 30-year-old woman with blond hair and a thin build wearing a white T-shirt and white shoes. The male suspect is described as a 25- to 35-year-old man with a beard wearing a white T-shirt and blue jean shorts.
The robbery was at least the fourth in Columbia since Friday.
On Friday morning, Columbia police arrested two Columbia teens in connection with the assault and robbery of a Jimmy John’s delivery driver and with the theft of three vehicles from Marcy Motors car dealership, 1910 Business Loop 70 W.
Also on Friday, three men robbed a man from Overland Park, Kan., at gunpoint in the 1000 block of Park Avenue, police reported.
Later that night, a man robbed a 30-year-old man at gunpoint near First and Ash streets.
As of Sunday morning, police had not found the stolen minivan from Saturday’s robbery, which has a license plate number of 2CA41A. Anyone with information may call CrimeStoppers at 875-8477.
