COLUMBIA — The Columbia College men’s soccer team finished its regular season Tuesday night and extended its winning streak to four games by beating Mid-Continent University 1-0 in overtime. The Cougars, who have won eight out of its last 11 games, finished the regular season 8-9 overall, 5-2 in the American Midwest Conference. Sophomore Ilya Grin scored the game winning goal 7 minutes into the first overtime period with a bending shot from the top of the penalty box. The ball started left before curving right, confusing the goalie and slamming into the back of the net.

“I saw the ball come to the top of the box,” Ilya said, “and just yelled for Vinny to leave it. Luckily he did and I just nailed it.” Columbia College will host Missouri Baptist University Tuesday, Nov. 30 in the opening round of the AMC tournament.
