COLUMBIA — The Columbia College men’s soccer team’s season came to a end Tuesday night with a heartbreaking loss to Missouri Baptist Univeristy in penalty kicks. After failing to protect a second half lead, the Cougars were unable to score the game winner during the two overtime periods, leaving the game tied at 3-3. Columbia College continued its scoring troubles during the shootout with senior Justin Robinson being the only Cougar to score, and Missouri Baptist won the shootout 3-1.
Columbia College struggled in the first half of regulation, giving up a goal in the first 15 minutes of play. However, the Cougars came out of halftime playing with energy and scored three unanswered goals. Freshmen Brandon Wulff, senior Sam Gelven, and sophomore Ross Matthew all scored for the Cougars, yet Columbia College could not hold the lead.
Columbia College ended the season with a 8-10 overall record, and a 5-2 mark in the American Midwest Conference.
