Alison--thanks for your service--sorry you have decided to resign. I could not tell from your e-mail if you were resigning from the secretary/treasurer position or from it and the Board--your comment about “Maybe I will see you around town” puzzles me unless you are resigning form the Board also--please clarify--thank you--Bob

Hi All- (please share with Les and Russ)-
Abeyance is different than resignation, but I suppose it’s in the board’s best interest for me to resign. I feel terrible about having brought it up.
I spoke to the AG’s office about the legal role of a treasurer in this type of situation. Please contact Bob Carlson, 573-751-3338. He’s really helpful.
It’s been great working with all of you. Maybe I’ll see you around town.

That is very kind of you CJ-let’s wait until the November meeting unless Alison wants to resign now and the Board wants to vote by e-mail to install you--Bob

HI Joanie-
Not disputing that the insurance policy covers us for theft. It’s the treasurer title and bonding requirements that I worry about.
I formally request that BCFR put my position as secretary/treasurer in abeyance during this period of clarification.
Thanks much for offering to clarify. I don’t intend to make more work and I’m sorry to be occupying your time with this.

Alison, I shared your email with Les.
Julie Elsbury has been informed by the insurance company that this coverage does extend to members of the Board of Directors not just employees. The provision they referenced is on page 11, Section VII Definitions,
definition of “Employee” item e. Les asked that I let you know he is
having Jane Kruse & Julie Elsbury confer with the insurance company to verify this is the type of coverage we need and covers someone serving as Treasurer of the Board of Directors.
Bob asked us to place this topic on the November agenda.

insurance policy dealing with theft. I am nervous about being named treasurer, because I obviously do not act in that capacity. I have never applied for a surety bond. While state law says we shall elect a treasurer, perhaps we can elect someone in the administration who is already handling the financial details. Can we put this on the agenda for November? The treasurer position is the most venerable, more than any other board member and any administrator, even if s/he is considered a treasurer in name only.

> Senate Bill 40 Missouri revised statutes says: The board shall elect a
chairman, vice chairman, treasurer, and such other officers as it deems necessary for its membership. Before taking office, the treasurer shall furnish a surety bond, in an amount to be determined and in a form to be approved by the board, for the faithful performance of his duties and faithful accounting of all moneys that may come into his hands. The treasurer shall enter into the surety bond with a surety company authorized to do business in Missouri, and the cost of such bond shall be paid by the board of directors.
