Top Ten Wines

111 S. Ninth St.

Las Rocas Granacha, $12.

Owner Paul Vernon says, “It’s full-bodied, has lots of fruit and is slightly spicy.”

Tinder Box

2703 E. Broadway

Castello Farnetella Lucilla, $16.

Owner Kevin Goodwin says: “It is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese. It is very silky and vibrant with elegant fruit, a voluptously textured wine.”

Hemingway’s Ltd.

10 W. Nifong Blvd, Suite E

2005 Robert Hall Rhone De Robles, $20.

The wine is a blend of eleven different kinds of grapes. “If you like a sweeter wine, you’ll be able to enjoy this. It has good fruit to it,” says manager Nathan Todd.

The Nostalgia Shop

819 E. WalnutSt.

Rombauer, $40.

Owner Tim Flynn says, “I’m not a wine drinker, but this is by far the most popular wine.” He says he has been told the Chardonnay has a nice oak flavor.

Joe’s Wine and Spirits

2001 Corona Road

Adam Puchta Vignoles, $16.

According to owner Joe Strawn, the wine, made from sweet Missouri grapes, is “the most popular, without a doubt. It is a sweet, dessert-style wine. It has a kiwi and grapefruit taste.”

Les Bourgeois Vineyards

12847 W. Highway Bb, Rocheport

Riverboat Red, $10.

Marilyn Ellsasser, manager of the tasting room, quotes the tasting notes, saying the sweet, Concord based wine is “infused with aromas of raspberry and cherry.”
