PrintCOLUMBIA — The last thing the Missouri volleyball team needed was a long match against Baylor on Friday after playing five games in a loss at No. 2 Nebraska on Wednesday.
But that is exactly what they got.
The Tigers had just enough left to hold off the Bears for a 30-21, 25-30, 29-31, 30-22, 15-13 victory at Hearnes Center.
“I think fatigue was a factor, I thought we looked a little tired,” Missouri coach Wayne Kreklow said. “This was a hard match because we both played Wednesday night. That’s sometimes what you’ve got to do.”
Despite her fatigue, senior Na Yang set a career high with 29 kills, also the most by any player in the conference this season.
“There’s only (a few) matches left, maybe in my volleyball career,” she said. “I’m tired, but I have to show everyone on the court that I’m going to be there for them.”
Missouri improved to 14-10 and 7-8 in the Big 12 Conference. Baylor fell to 14-11 and 6-8 in conference.
