COLUMBIA — The Columbia College women’s volleyball team handled Harris-Stowe State 30-15, 30-12, 30-12 on Tuesday, to advance to the second round of the American Midwest Conference Tournament at Southwell Complex and improve to 25-6.
“Each game we play the intensity level is going to step up from here on out to nationals,” Columbia College coach Melind Wrye-Washington said. “Even at nationals we’ll step up every match, so we have to continue to get better.”
The Cougars are the top seed in the tournament and will host No. 4 Illinois-Springfield at 7 p.m. Thursday in the semifinal round. The Prairie Stars defeated No. 5 Williams Baptist (Ark.) College late Tuesday in three games.
