Three people were sent to the hospital for injuries Saturday afternoon after a two-car collision near the intersection of Providence Road and Nifong Boulevard.

At about 1 p.m., Paul Fisher, 89, of Columbia, was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of Providence Road, between South Hampton Drive and Nifong Boulevard, when he struck a vehicle in the southbound lane, according to a Columbia Police Department release. The driver of that vehicle was Jonathan Hunt, 47, of Silex, and was carrying Sherry Hunt, 50, also of Silex. All three were sent to the hospital for injuries. Both Jonathan and Sherry Hunt were wearing their seatbelts. It's unknown if Fisher was wearing one.

The Missourian will provide more information as it becomes available.
