A 19-year-old man and a 6-month-old baby were injured in a car wreck on U.S. 63 near Route AC Friday night.

According to a Columbia Police Department release, at 9:45 p.m., 19-year-old Brandon T. O’Haver was traveling south on U.S. 63 when he swerved to avoid a vehicle in front of him. O’Haver lost control of his red Ford Focus and went into the median, causing the vehicle to flip several times and land in the northbound lanes of U.S. 63, the release said.

Both O’Haver and the six-month old passenger were injured and taken by ambulance to University Hospital. O'Haver is currently being treated for head injuries, according to his mother, Kathy O'Haver. The hospital said he is listed in good condition. The baby, who Kathy O'Haver said is the son of O'Haver's friend, has been released. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
