PrintCOLUMBIA — Police are looking for suspects in two home invasions that occurred in north Columbia on Saturday night, within a half an hour and two miles of each other.
“We don’t have any information that the two invasions are related,” Columbia police Sgt. Dianne Bernhard said.
The first incident occurred at 8:39 p.m. in the 3100 block of Jenne Hill Drive in reference to a burglary in process, police said.
The victims told officers that three suspects kicked in the door to the residence, assaulted them and stole some of their property.
The victims told police they were assaulted and told to remain in another room while the suspects searched the apartment, and that one of the three suspects had a gun.
All three of the victims refused medical attention.
Police are looking for three suspects in the incident. The first is a heavyset black male, between 26 and 28 years old with a shaggy beard. He is about 6 foot 2 inches tall and 260 pounds. He was last seen wearing a green jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and tan shoes.
The second suspect was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt. There are no further descriptions of the second two suspects.
Police responded to a second home invasion at 9:05 p.m. in the 2100 block of Live Oak Lane in north Columbia in reference to a burglary in process, police said.
Before officers arrived, the victim was transported to a hospital by a relative for treatment of bruises and abrasions.
Officers contacted the victim at the emergency room, and the victim told them the suspects kicked in the front door to his residence and assaulted him.
The victim said he did not know if any of the suspects were armed.
Police said there were between three to four male suspects.
