COLUMBIA — The Missouri women’s soccer team was selected to the NCAA Tournament and will host first and second round tournament games at Walton Stadium on Friday and Sunday.
Missouri will play Southeast Missouri State, the Ohio Valley Conference champions, Friday. The winner of that game will play the winner of the USC-Creighton game in the second round Sunday for a berth in the Sweet Sixteen.
Missouri (13-7) went 3-5 to finish the season. The Tigers’ last game was a 4-1 loss to Texas A&M in the Big 12 Tournament semifinal.
It is Missouri’s third appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Missouri lost in the first round in 1999 and advanced to the second round before losing in 2003.
COLUMBIA COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL: The Cougars lost for the first time this season 74-62 to College of the Ozarks on Monday at Southwell Complex.
Trae Hall and Jason Ellis led the Cougars (2-1) with 12 points apiece, and Mikel Fields pulled down nine rebounds.
Ozarks (4-0) was outrebounded 42-40 by Columbia College, but the Cougars committed 19 turnovers while only forcing 14. The Cougars shot 36 percent from the field, 31 percent from 3-point range and 73 percent from the line.
