COLUMBIA — All night long, the MU volleyball team and the Iowa State Cyclones found themselves in a similar situation: Neither could shake the other and establish control.
But behind Na Yang’s 22 kills, the Tigers (16-10, 9-8 Big 12) did enough to finally escape the Cyclones, 30-28, 30-26, 24-30, 30-24. Na’s performance was her 10th this year with at least 20 kills, setting an MU record.
“I’m really pleased,” MU coach Wayne Kreklow said. “I’m most proud of the way our kids were able to bounce back after a bad Game 3. That’s what you’ve got to do if you want to compete in this conference.”
Sophomore Megan Wilson said she thought energy was the difference in overcoming the Cyclones (15-12, 9-8).
“Both these teams were so evenly matched, the team that was going to pull it out was the team that had the most energy,” she said.
