The No. 6 Columbia College volleyball team lost to No. 12 Lindenwood University by scores of 30-26, 19-30, 30-19, 32-34 and 16-14 Saturday afternoon in the championship match of the NAIA Region V Tournament at Southwell Complex in Columbia.

Cougar junior Luana Branco was named the region’s most valuable player, as well as the Region V Setter of the Year honors. In addition, Branco, senior Juliana Quadrado and junior Yi Zhang-Li were announced as recipients of the all-region team.

By winning the region tournament, Lindenwood will receive one of 14 automatic bids to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship, which will also be held at the Columbia College campus, starting on Wednesday, Nov. 28.

With the loss, the Cougars fell to 29-7. Since they host the national championship, however, the Cougars will receive the host bid into the tournament.
