Former Missouri men’s basketball coach Norm Stewart will be one of 12 inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame today at the College Basketball Experience building in Kansas City.

“No one is more deserving than coach Stewart and for the Hall of Fame to be there in Kansas City is really really special,” said current MU men’s basketball coach Mike Anderson, who said he plans to attend the induction ceremony.

Stewart won 731 games in 38 seasons as a coach, including 32 at Missouri. He coached the Tigers from 1967 to 1999, making the NCAA Tournament 16 times and winning eight Big 8 Conference championships and six Big 8 Conference Tournament titles.

The court at Mizzou Arena is named after the former Missouri coach and player.

“I’ve always thought that he is what Missouri basketball is all about,” Anderson said.
