COLUMBIA β€” Two men abducted and raped a woman in downtown Columbia early Saturday morning while she was getting into her car, Columbia police said.

The two men abducted the woman at about 3:14 a.m. near the Generic Nightclub, 1025 E. Broadway. The pair then took turns forcibly raping her while driving around town, police said.

β€œAt this time there is no indication that the victim or the suspects were at the club,” said Columbia police Sgt. Ken Gregory.

One suspect was described as a white man in his early 20s, 6 feet 6 inches tall, 240 pounds with short brown hair and a tattoo on his left forearm. The other suspect was described as a black man in his early 20s, 6 feet tall and 200 pounds with short hair and a scar on the front of his neck.

This is a horrible crime, yet I cannot find it in either the Tribune or KOMU. Why isn't this being reported more?

This seems like the most violent year in Columbia in a long time. While the murders are down, robberies seem to be increasing. If not increasing in number, certainly in violence. I'm glad I'm getting out of this town.
