COLUMBIA — USC defeated the Missouri women’s soccer team 1-0 in double overtime in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at Walton Stadium, ending Missouri’s season.

In the 105th minute, USC (16-3-2) had a sideline throw-in. Megan Ohai put the ball in play in front of the goal with a flip throw and Ashley Nick headed it into the goal for the winner.

“Props to USC,” Missouri goalkeeper Mallory Forst said. “That was an unbelievable goal. It’s good to lose on a diving header rather than something else.”

Missouri (13-8-1) will have all its players back next season. Missouri coach Bryan Blitz said this season’s accomplishments have him excited about next year. Missouri’s 13 wins are the second most ever for the program.

“We’re very proud of our group as a season overall, with no seniors,” Blitz said. “...If you look at our team as a body of work, we can’t help but be excited about the spring season and also going into (the regular season) next year.
