COLUMBIA — CrimeStoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for the public’s help in finding a Columbia man wanted on suspicion of shooting two men on Park Avenue in October.
CrimeStoppers is run by police employees but separate from the Police Department. It offers rewards to residents who give tips that lead to arrests.
Police issued an arrest warrant last month for Malcom D. Redmon, 23, in connection with the Oct. 9 shooting in the 500 block of Park Avenue that injured a 20-year-old man and 15-year-old boy. Capt. Brad Nelson said police still haven’t found Redmon and believe he’s a threat to Columbia.
“We believe that he is certainly dangerous and capable of violence, so we are making every effort to apprehend him,” Nelson said.
Nelson said interviews with witnesses after the shooting led them to think Redmon is responsible.
Police responded to the Oct. 9 shooting after receiving a report that evening of a fight involving 50 people on Park Avenue. When they arrived, they found the 20-year-old shot in the leg and the 15-year-old shot in the jaw and shoulder.
Redmon has warrants out for his arrest for two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action, Nelson said. Redmon also has an active felony parole violation warrant for his arrest and is on supervised parole for various drug charges and stealing, according to a police news release.
