PrintCOLUMBIA — Columbia police discovered a complete meth lab in central Columbia on Wednesday night concealed inside an apartment.
The Narcotics Unit of the Police Department obtained and served a search warrant for apartment J of 405 N. Garth Ave, according to a news release. A trooper from the Missouri State Highway Patrol trained in meth lab handling and disposal assisted.
The search at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday revealed less than one gram of crack cocaine and a meth lab that had been recently used, along with evidence of methamphetamine use.
The resident, Mark A. Ball, 39, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and attempt to manufacture methamphetamine.
Ball is on probation in St. Charles County, according to court documents. He was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to manufacture in March 2002 and sentenced to five years of supervised probation, according to court documents. Ball’s probation was revoked in September 2005, and he served 120 days in the Missouri Department of Corrections system before being put on probation until December 2010.
Ball was being held in the Boone County Jail on a $4,500 bond for a charge of felony possession of a controlled substance. No bond had been set for his charge of attempt to manufacture methamphetamine.
Calls made to the Columbia Police Department for more information on Thursday morning were not immediately returned.
