The Rock Bridge girls basketball team suffered its first defeat of the season in a 69-59 double-overtime loss at Nixa.
Nixa was 19-of-20 from the free-throw line in overtime, which sealed the victory. Even with the loss, Rock Bridge coach Jill Nagel said she was happy the team improved on what they were working on in practice.
“The kids played hard and played their tails off,” she said. “This is probably the best team that we have played thus far. You cannot fault the effort.”
The Bruins (3-1) are in the middle of a four-game stretch over six days.
“We are going to have to get our legs back,” Nagel said. “We will watch film tomorrow. and I am sure there will be many things we can point to that could have gone a different way.”
The Bruins’ next game is Thursday at the Springfield Kickapoo Tournament.
