Columbia high school students awarded for soccer skills

COLUMBIA— Members of the Rock Bridge High School boys’ soccer team and the Hickman High School boys’ soccer team recently received awards for their achievements on the field.

The Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association announced members of both teams who have been selected for the all-state and all-region teams.

The following Hickman High School players were recognized:

n Evan Camden, senior forward

Class Three Honorable Mention All-State, Class Three Central Region Offensive Player of the Year and Class Three Central Region Team

n Justin Schmidt, senior goal keeper

Class Three Central Region Team

The following Rock Bridge High School players were recognized:

n Michael Lombardo, senior defender

Class Three Central Region Defensive Player of the Year, Class Three Central Region Team, All-District First Team, First Team All-Region and Most Valuable Player, defensive.

nMatt Quetsch, senior defender

Class Three Central Region Team, First Team All-District and First Team All-Region.

nGentry Coffman, senior forward

Class Three Central Region Team, First Team All-District and First Team All-Region.

Kirby Keth, boys’ soccer head coach for Rock Bridge High School, said the players are selected by coaches in the district. Keth said the coaches recognize, nominate and vote on the players when they are choosing who will receive these awards. The players who are designated as all-district are voted on to be awarded all-region. The MVP is then selected from the all-region team by regional coaches.
