A loaded handgun was thrown from the vehicle during the chase, and the driver abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot in the area of Oak Street and Unity Drive in central Columbia, according to a news release from the Police Department.

The Columbia Police Dept. Violent Crimes Task Force has issued a warrant for the arrest of Alphonso L. Fagala, 27, on charges of felony resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, careless and imprudent driving, and property damage.

Fagala’s bond is set at $56,000, and he is considered to be armed and dangerous, police said.

Fagala is 5 feet 9 inches tall, 165 pounds and has numerous tattoos on both his arms and chest.

In 1998, Fagala was sentenced to 10 years on a charges of armed criminal action and first-degree assault in the Missouri Department of Corrections. He was released on parole in November 2005, said Carolyn Driese, an office support assistant for the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center. The parole board discharged him in May.
