Local students honored in all-state band competition.

Chris Thomas of Hickman High School has been selected to be a member of the inaugural U.S. Army All-American

Marching Band.

Eleven Columbia high school students were selected to Missouri All-State instrumental ensembles at auditions held at Hickman High School. Students receiving Missouri All-State recognition:

Missouri All-State Band

Hickman: Winnie Feng, flute; Lisa Grelmann, oboe; Charlotte Wesley, French horn; Hannah Wigger, clarinet.

Rock Bridge: Samantha Crouch, clarinet. Rebecca Gingrich, flute. Michael Lombardo, trumpet.

All-State Band Alternatives

Hickman: Cooper Livingston, French horn. Olivia Wikle, tenor saxophone.

Rock Bridge: Brandon Spratt, trombone.

All-State Band Honorable Mention: Hickman: Carrie Ingersoll, clarinet; Chris Thomas, trumpet; Stephanie Thomas, flute; Max Vale, alto saxophone. Rock Bridge: Molly Chann, flute. Kathy Trabue, trumpet.

Missouri All-State Jazz Ensemble

Rock Bridge: Derrick Neuner, alto saxophone; Matt Quetsch, trombone.

Missouri All-State Orchestra

Hickman: Abby Sun, violin; Josh Yoon, violin.

Caroline Grace Erickson of Columbia has accepted membership in Golden Key International Honour Society and was honored during a recent induction ceremony at University of Missouri-St. Louis. She is a 2007 Sue Shear Institute fellow and works as a program director for the institute. She was a summer intern for Columbia’s Family Health Center.
