COLUMBIA — Fifty members of the Missouri National Guard, stationed briefly at the Columbia Armory in anticipation of icy weather, are now headed to Chillicothe, said Capt. Tammy Spicer.
As of noon Tuesday, the 50-member dispatch was on its way to the north-central Missouri town of about 9,000.
Gov. Matt Blunt mobilized 50 members of the Missouri National Guard, mostly engineers and military police, to Columbia on Sunday in anticipation of severe weather in mid-Missouri, according to a governor’s office news release. A dispatch of 70 guard members were initially dispatched to Barton County.
