COLUMBIA — Following a minor setback, power has been restored for all of Ashland’s residents.
Boone Electric Cooperative spokeswoman Vicki Kemna said all power was restored by 10 a.m. Wednesday. Several houses had been without electricity since Sunday.
Boone Electric crews had restored power to all its members by 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, but a few houses experienced another outage after falling ice and trees landed on some power lines. Kemna said that tree branches often “bounce back up” once freed from the weight of the ice, knocking out power lines they missed on the way down. Thismight have accounted for part of the setback, she said.
At the storm’s worst, Boone Electric saw about 2,400 of its 28,000 members without power. About 2,000 of those were in Ashland, Kemna said.
Kemna said the areas of the city damaged worst were Mackie Lane and Burnett School Road.
