COLUMBIA — The Rock Bridge boys basketball team beat Hickman 55-48 on Thursday night at Rock Bridge. The Bruins dominated the game early, leading 18-6 at one point in the first quarter. Junior Jordan Dressler scored seven of Rock Bridge’s first nine points, and he eventually led the Bruins with 14 points. Junior forward Briton Rudd had 13 points and sophomore Ricky Kreklow added 11 for the Bruins.

The Kewpies rallied in the second half, tying at 44 with about four minutes left in the third quarter. Hickman fought back behind the scrappy defense of guards Lyle Harris and TC Carter. Harris led all scorers with 17 points, followed by Kewpies forwards Michael Thomas (nine points) and Demarea Liddell (eight points).

The Bruins’ early lead and hot outside shooting proved to be too much for the Kewpies to overcome.

“They fought back and showed a lot of heart and a lot of pride tonight,” Hickman coach Kenny Ash said. “They just couldn’t get over the top. We had nothing to lose. We were down a bunch, and Rock Bridge is a team that’s undefeated. We’re kind of struggling right now, but we’re playing hard.
