COLUMBIA — Forbes magazine ranked Columbia as one of the top 20 places to educate a child in the United States. Washington, D.C.-Arlington, Va., topped the list.
Cities were selected based on a variety of factors, including number of students per teacher, private school options, library use, if there is at least one institute of higher education in the community and higher education options offered.
Ranked 19th, Columbia received a B+ in public school support, a C+ in private school options, an A+ in library popularity, an A+ for presence of higher education institutes and an A in higher education options offered.
St. Louis was ranked ninth on the list and received an A+ in private school options and college options.
