A 33-year-old woman was hit by a car while crossing Worley Street on Friday night, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

Leisa Nelson was taken to University Hospital and, as of Saturday afternoon, is listed in serious condition.

The car, driven by Hartford Bradford, 43, was traveling west on Worley Street at about 9:45 p.m. when it struck Nelson, according to the news release.

Neither the driver nor the juvenile passenger in his car was injured. The driver was not wearing his seat belt but the passenger was, according to the release.

The Police Department said it is still investigating the case.
