The sun sets before five. The kids are home on winter break. To stave off stir-craziness and come out with some presents to boot, try creating some of your holiday gifts at home. You don’t have to be an expert in knitting or decoupage to create gifts from scratch.
A meaningful product could come from simply gathering old photos or family recipes to put into an album or turn into a custom printed calendar (on recycled paper) from your local copy shop.

For younger hands, consider a trip to a craft store — or better yet, the backyard — to pick up materials to make seasonal decorations and ornaments. A simple frame or magnetic backing can go a long way to turn a homemade art piece into something giftable.
