COLUMBIA — A teenager was arrested Saturday on suspicion of firing a handgun into her mother’s home in central Columbia.

Police charged Deshai L. Richardson, 16, with armed criminal action, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree child endangerment, two counts of second-degree property damage and third-degree domestic assault, a news release from Columbia police said.

Following an argument with her mother, Richardson kicked a car door before she fired one bullet into her mother’s home on Spencer Avenue, the release said. Two adults and a 6-year-old family member were inside the house at the time of the shooting.

The shot went through the arm of a coat worn by an adult male in the house. No injuries were reported. The officers located a .25 caliber handgun at the scene, they said.
