TREE: A gift to always return

Sunday, December 23, 2007 | 5:38 p.m. CST

The center of holiday hearth and home, the tannenbaum. It’s one holiday gift that should always be returned. By dropping your tree off at one of two city mulching sites, you can help give the gift of improved wildlife and plant habitat to the region. Trees will be used to improve wildlife and fish habitats or for soil conservation. The Capen Park Mulch Site is south of Stadium Boulevard off Rock Quarry Road, and the Parkside Mulch Site is north of Memorial Park Cemetery, off Creasy Springs Road. Both are open 24 hours a day for tree drop off.

For more information about tree recycling, call the Public Works Solid Waste Division at 874-6291 or go to www.gocolumbiamo.com/PublicWorks, click on environmental services and then click on recycling.
