COLUMBIA — The Boone County Fire District responded to a fire early Monday morning at a shop building in northern Boone County.

Firefighters arrived at 2:55 a.m. to Leroy Miller and Misty Quintana’s house on West Harper Road after the owners woke to the sound of an explosion and saw their shop building in flames.

Twenty firefighters with eight fire trucks were able to extinguish the blaze that engulfed the shop.

Almost all contents of the building were lost, and damages are estimated at $100,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
