Sure wish I lived in Columbia (or nearby), to be a part of Mizzou games in the coming years. Tail-gating, cheering on the Tigers are all great memories, but sure would be fun now! I really hope that 60,000 fans per game is just a start, and attendance can get up to 70,000 to cheer on this team.
Having been a student and working at the University in the '80's and '90's, those were some fairly dismal years, with some hope mixed in here and there. I am so proud to see where Coach Pinkel is taking this program. He and his staff have established a winning culture that is evident in so many ways - Loyalty, Respect, Character, Effort, Attitude, Discipline. I love that these players play so passionately, but without the ego and selfishness that we have seen in other major college programs over the years. You can tell these guys are having fun, not just as players individually, but as a TEAM.
Way to go, Tigers! You have captured the attention of many with how you get the job done!
Class of '85
The coach is all about teaming, leadership and humility...when they wanted to dismiss his staff he said they go I go...he has been a person I have referenced in my job. He knows the importance of staying focused and true. We did not get a BSC bowl, even though other teams were ranked lower than MU. Pinkel kept the focus on the agenda, stayed on the path of the Cotton Bowl. What a game, the coverage was poor with the viewers missing many plays because of the long overbearing interview with former Arkansas coach and the new coach...
The game was strong, the team was solid, the fans were amazing! One man shared with me today, he being from Texas A & M, many of Mizzou's games this year had signs of the Patriots! That is a testimonial from an AZ native!
Where was the tiger mascot, TV never showed our tigers and cut our band short, other than romping off the field.
I have been a loyal alumna for 30 years, part of the alum here in AZ, and was there when Devine took us to the orange bowl. As an undergrad and grad my tigers, the University of MO, is a place I am proud to call home and my loyalty is constant. I have lived all over the US, taught at Stanford, and currently reside in AZ, who did not cover the Tigers at all in today's paper, MU has made history!
Congratulations to those who have stayed through the tough times, and celebrate this victory!
