COLUMBIA — A task force of law enforcement agencies created on Nov. 30 in response to a series of violent crimes has been disbanded.

Columbia Police Chief Randy Boehm, in a news release, said officers assigned to the Violent Crimes Task Force returned to their regular assignments on Dec. 28.

He credited the task force for 42 arrests, primarily for felonies, and 107 traffic stops. Three firearms, 7 grams of crack cocaine and a half-pound of marijuana were seized during the effort, Boehm said.

The task force was a combination of officers from the Columbia Police Department, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI.
