Two bodies found in Callaway County home

COLUMBIA — Two bodies were found inside a home a few miles south of Fulton after police received a 911 hang-up call Thursday morning.

Preliminary findings at the scene are consistent with a homicide/suicide, according to a news release from the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department, and officers were treating the investigation as a homicide.

The victims have been identified as a husband and wife, but no names have been released pending notification of family members, according to the news release.

The victims’ bodies have been taken to the office of the medical examiner in Columbia. An autopsy is expected to be performed as early as Friday, according to the release.

Deputies were dispatched to the home after the Callaway Emergency Operations Center received a hang-up call at about 8 a.m. Columbia and Fulton police departments are assisting in the Department investigation.
