Former Fulton police officer and wife found dead

COLUMBIA — Two bodies found inside a home a few miles south of Fulton have been identified as an officer with the Fulton Police Department and his wife, a receptionist at the Fulton city hall, according to a news release from the Callaway County Sheriff’s office.

Autopsies were scheduled for Friday morning, according to the release.

Preliminary findings at the scene are consistent with a homicide/suicide, according to the news release, and officers are treating the investigation as a homicide.

Deputies were dispatched to the home after the Callaway Emergency Operations Center received a hang-up call at about 8 a.m. Thursday.

Columbia and Fulton police departments are assisting in the investigation.
