82-year-old woman robbed north of Columbia

An 82-year-old woman was robbed by a man with a blunt instrument north of Columbia at about 8 p.m. Thursday, according to a release from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

The department gave this account:

A man blocked the road on which the woman was driving, the 1300 block of Obermiller Road, approached her vehicle with an unidentified blunt instrument and demanded her purse.

The woman, uninjured, gave her purse and its contents to the suspect, who then fled,.

Mark Dellerman, 44, of Columbia, was located a short distance from where the crime occurred and was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery.

The purse and its contents were recovered and returned to the woman.
