COLUMBIA — An accident late Wednesday night left two people with minor injuries. One of the drivers involved was drunk, Columbia police said.
The accident occurred near the intersection of Providence Road and the MU Pedestrian Bridge at 11:15 p.m., Sgt. Tim Moriarity said.
Driver Jake Fowler, 20, was intoxicated, Moriarity said. His 2001 Ford Escort, traveling south, crossed the center line into the path of another car, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am.
Fowler was not injured, according to a news release from the department, but the driver and passenger of the other car were. Driver Dorothy Wallace, 54, and passenger Norman Hardiman, 52, were transported to University Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, Moriarity said.
Wallace and Hardiman were not admitted for their injuries, University Hospital spokeswoman Barbie Morgan said.
Fowler was issued a summons for failing to maintain a single lane of travel and driving while intoxicated and arrested on two counts of second-degree assault, Moriarity said.
