Teen driver story moves mom

I just finished reading your feature piece, “Teens on the Road.” I had to read it in small segments in order to handle and digest the contents. It was quite moving and very important.

I am blessed that my only child, now 30 years old and a father of three, had only two minor accidents as a young driver. As a young adult, he was broadsided, which totaled his car, but unbelievably he and his passenger were unhurt.

During his senior year at Hickman High School, a close friend and his sister were killed in a freak, unavoidable accident on their way to school — very sobering for all of their friends and their parents.

I hope that your feature and the work of those three brave parents reach more young people and their parents.

Thank you for your fine work and contribution to the welfare of our community.
