“We have had a wonderful response from the community,” Humane Society executive director Patty Forister said. “There is something for everyone at the auction.”

Along with Columbia artwork, auction items include a trip to Thailand with an “elephant encounter,” a trip to Texas with a yacht cruise, and a trip to Breckenridge, Colo. Items also include gift baskets and certificates.

“We are very excited,” Forister said. “We have already received $45,000 in donations for items to auction.”

The organizations collaborated in 2006 for a similar fundraising event, “L’Art et Les Animaux.” A committee of members from both organizations created the event this year and decided to pool their resources, share labor and split benefits 50-50.

“People are encouraged to come out,” Columbia Art League executive director Diana Moxon said. “It is going to be a winning combo.”
